Brian Sharp, Speaker during the Interactive Breakout Session – Preparing First Money.
September 20, 2018 at the Confederation Centre; Charlottetown, PEI
Brian Sharp has worked in the film and TV industry for 25 years on award winning projects all across Canada, with an international release of his animated TV kids show “Razzberry Jazzberry Jam”. He has worked in every position in film, except hair and makeup, but with a particular focus on Producer and Director of Photography. Born in Africa, his first exposure to film, was searching for the location of a yet unknown movie set, shooting in Tunisia. That movie turned out to be the first Star Wars film. Ever since then, Brian has had a passion for the creative and technical aspects of making movies. Onset Communication evolved out of a personal need to improve communication on set so that Brian could meet the creative demands on his productions within fixed budget.
In the last three years Brian has graduated from Propel ICT Build program, The Startup Zone launch program and attended numerous entrepreneur workshops and investor forums (including CIX 2017). This has helped him acquire the skills, connections and resources to build a successful company in a sector he has unique domain expertise and experience. With a prototype, extensive customer testing, and a distribution deal with the largest film equipment rental shop in Canada (William F White), Brian has secured private investment from Island Capital Partners and other funding from NRC, ACOA and Innovation PEI that has allowed for the development of a beta release of our first product the Onset Assistant to eagerly waiting customers. The Onset Assistant saves time by enabling faster, accurate communication. We have turned 10 minute discussions into 10 second decision, saving time, money and careers.
